Biography
Estonian conductor Susan Lahesalu works across choral and orchestral music, with a particular affinity for Baltic and Nordic repertoire. Trained in Tallinn and Vienna and based in Hamburg, she has conducted in Estonia, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland, Iceland and Ukraine.
Her recent artistic work includes the Hamburg premiere of Cyrillus Kreek’s Reekviem (Requiem) in its original Estonian, as well as Vivaldi’s Gloria with a Baroque ensemble performing on period instruments. Alongside her work as a conductor, she teaches conducting at the Hamburger Konservatorium and is a regularly invited workshop leader, with a particular focus on choral conducting, ensemble development, Estonian music, and Nordic and Baltic choral traditions.
